Design for Life is how Janan Platt helps people transform their lives by transforming their spaces, consciously and creatively, for the optimal flow of breath, beauty, personal fulfillment, and happiness.
Janan is a designer, artist and creative entrepreneur who has helped many people reconfigure their lives via consultations and design work.
Design for Life goes beyond simple design and materials and pays attention to the people and spaces themselves, working with the needs and energies, and creating the most fulfilling design.
Design for Life involves conversations that reveal personal goals, struggles, problems, and hoped for resolutions. Then the space is studied, preferably in person with a walk through, but it can be done virtually. Janan senses the energies, respects comments, including from kids and pets, and the vision for improved design emerges.
Janan communicates with you as we go. It's interactive. If you have elements your want, she includes those. She's always reaching for the highest for you.
Her goal is to fulfill your needs with the design for your life and your space. Her sensitivity is to the energies and the messages the spaces are conveying and the ways they are affecting the lives of people.
Janan has the ability to concentrate her awareness and creative energy to allow the poetic, healthy design vision to emerge. She calls this Design for Life.

Any space, and those in it, benefits by the attention and care, awareness and artistry of design Janan brings to it with Design for Life.
Her work seems like a mystery, but in truth it is simply intense sensitivity, along with decades of study, observation, learning, developed artistry, applied experience, and freedom of creativity.
Creativity is the natural way of life. Everyone and everything is creative. Yet, like great athletes, some people develope their creative abilities further than normal, and are thus more useful in situations requiring advanced creative talents.
Janan has developed her creative talents, and she shares them with you, applied to your personal life, to help you achieve what you'd like by offering you Design for Life.
We create our environment and we are created by our environment. It's a reciprocal continuum that we, and everything else is contributing to all the time.
Practicing the ancient science of Feng Shui helps Janan orient energies and apply qualities to spaces in design, that give the spaces what they need for optimal life.
She is extremely sensitive to spaces, and can sense in and learn what's there and what's needed to improve the ability of the space to provide for those inhabiting it.
With decades of experience creating as an artist, in film, literature, fine art, and business, Janan is immediately aware of energetic feelings, composition, and the stories your spaces tell with symbols, colors, shapes, sensory inputs, and how they influence you and everyone with you.
Janan can watch documentaries about people, see their homes, and recognize what areas are out of balance and contributing to problems in their lives!!! She has the ability to read what is clearly written, in a language that only few gifted and devoted people understand.
And, with Design for Life, Janan is able to find the remedies. Tuning in, she uses creativity, knowledge, and vision to find the solution that gives you the relief you need.
Janan can work with your over the phone, on Zoom or FaceTime, or in Person. The "work" is conversational, exploring issues beyond design, and it is experiential, moving through the space to become aware of what's going on there.
Sensing the space, for Janan, includes seeing, hearing, smelling, getting feelings, emotions, senses, and respecting comments by anyone there, including animals, to gather more information.
All of this is done with compassion, aware that Love is the greatest power, and we all are love, seek to be love more fully, and are striving to live Love, in our own specific ways, as gifts of life on this planet.
This communion with a space and the lives influenced by it, and influencing it, is more intimate than therapy for her clients in some ways. And it's more active and involved. Plus, there are always remedies.
Janan percolates on the situation, for periods of time after the consultation. Her process is pretty intense. She'll provide you with the remedy written up and mapped for you action on, or you can hire her to take the design actions. The consultation involves further conversation to clarify anything needed.
As more insights come in Janan provides you with the additional materials.
If Janan is designing your space, she'll work with the architect, builders, tradespeople and suppliers as your designer, providing plans, procuring materials and working with them to implement them.
You'll see great vision manifest! And you'll enjoy the shifts in energy to improve your life!
You could compare it to sports medicine, for spaces.
With Design for Life, the issue or injury or desire for greater performance is addressed with the awareness of the whole person and their whole life involved. Then the physical and energetic work is done. And the improvements are evident.
Janan is very compassionate, tolerant, and forgiving. She perceives the spaces and people as something seeking healing, and happiness. She helps bring the vitality and awareness, along with simple practical things to do, or complex renovations or builds, if needed, and the ways to accomplish them, to shift the energy and bring about the healing results needed and the transition into happiness.
When people inhabit a space for a while, they shape the space in accordance with their awareness. Clearing clutter is a basic remedy in many instances, but beyond that, we evaluate the energy that brought the clutter, and what areas of life need to be open, and the corresponding areas of the space, and how to best do that for the specific people and situations involved.
Classical, Antique, and pre-WWII architecture often provided harmony in the balance of construction. Places were practical for people actually using them. Adding garages to the house shifted the balance. Televisions, stair cases, draining appliances, noise, neighbors, these are all modern things to consider when shifting the energy with Design for Life.
Obviously it would be so much more simple if new homes were designed with these principals and practical merits in mind. But most often they aren't. So we remedy them with Design for Life.
When people move to somewhere new, their lives become influenced by the new environment, and the energies of the new space affect them.
It's very helpful to evaluate the space before you move in, and make structural, material, or color changes necessary before you fall under the trance of the space created by the previous occupants!
Also, when you're making renovations, it's very helpful to evaluate the affects the changes will have on the space, and your lives, in more than simply design changes. If you're adding on, that shifts the balance of the whole space, for instance, so it's best to make sure it's a positive shift.
Practicality is part of Janan's orientation. A place must be easy to move about in for those living there.
Kitchen design is one of her favorite areas. It can be a challenge, with people's desire for appliances, to fit them in and yet create a nourishing space where you can easily bring in healthy supplies, move around, create, gather, prepare food, eat, feed others, clean up, and put things away. This is where really sensing the space in person is most valuable, even moving around it as if the new configuration is there.
Colors greatly affect the energy of spaces as well. Colors express energies, of the elements and more. Each of these elements and colors are needed and valuable. Balance is necessary.
Browns and earth tones can be grounding. Too many browns can produce clutter. They can become mud and keep people's lives stuck.
Water colors: blues, blacks, greens, can make more flow. Too much or in areas that need grounding or uplifting, etc, can produce strong emotions.
Red, orange, yellows, as fire colors can inspire, add romance, passion, affection... Too much fire can prompt accidents, tempers, or burn up something valuable.
Wood energy in areas that need uplifting, is wonderful and curative. However, greens, uplifting shapes, in areas were you need more flow, it can be a block.
Light colors can help a space breathe. Too much air energy in light colors can make a place too spacey.
Whites and metals can help you be organized and clutter free. But, in the wrong places, they can cut and diminish...
We each have our own color spectrum and elements we need that feed us and that the spaces call for.
Thus we see that trends, that typically overwhelm with one color or type of materials, can actually be hard to live with.
Mixing the right recipe for each person, space and situation is part of Janan's gift in her Design for Life.
Balance and harmony in the structure of your space is also important. If you have gaps in the structural integrity of your house, that affects the energy of those missing sectors. Likewise, if there are protrusions, that affects the energy.
Modern space design often prioritizes boxes, appliances, vehicles, visibility, and forgets balance, elements, and the humanity, creatures, plants, ie: LIFE, inhabiting the spaces. Sometimes it even ignores amazing views.
Light, sound, water, air, stairs, appliances, doors, windows, these are aspects of modern living that affect the design and the energy of the space. In Nature there are curves. Living in rigid spaces affects our minds and limits our imaginations. So we strive to compensate for these flaws.
Design for Life helps remedy them instead.
We have relationships with the spaces we inhabit. Knowing what you're giving the space-- is it a gift? or an impediment?-- helps you live well in the space.
Sometimes people think they need to get rid of relationships, or jobs, when, in fact, they need to make adjustments that are healthier with them. This is reflected in the space. Changing the space will change the relationships.
With Design for Life, we do it consciously to do it for well being of all involved.
Our needs for spaces change as we mature, and life evolves. Maybe we accommodate these new needs in the space we occupied previously, by making changes, or maybe it's best to let it go, and find something more suitable to our new needs.
If you're striving to sell your place, Janan can help prepare it for optimal showings for quick sales and the highest price. She's a real estate investor herself, applying the principals of design to sell her properties for the neighborhoods' top dollar.
Janan's Design for Life consultations and design work can save you a lot of money in the long run, and help the energy of good finances open and flow for you.
Breath is the foundation of life. We need spaces where we breathe easily. Hence, Janan's Design for Life artistry involves the use of natural materials--stone, marble, granite, wood, cotton, wool, silk, glass, metals,... Even the quality of paints affects our quality of life and Janan opts for the cleanest.
While natural materials can seem more expensive, costs can be saved with savvy design. So you get a look that is very opulent, but not as costly.
Janan differentiates her work from most people desiging new builds or renovations in her use of artistic design to maximize the beauty and opulence of materials. Rather than simply pile on expensive materials and hope they speak for themselves to create luxury, Janan uses the materials in balance, harmony, design, your personality, with color and space for them to breathe, creating greater luxury.
People can feel it immediately in the space. They relax and feel heightened. In the best of ways.
